WHAT WE DO
Creating Healthy Community
Housing Works seeks to create more affordable housing options in the Southern California area through our work with affordable housing developers and individual property owners. The work of building community is about creating and fostering relationships at all levels to meet the needs of individuals and families searching for an affordable, desirable place to call home.
Our partners include Hollywood Community Housing Corporation, Alternative Living for the Aging, Alexandria House, A Community of Friends, McCormack Baron Salazar, LA Family Housing, West Hollywood Community Housing, Gettlove, PATH, Centennial Place, Skid Row Housing Trust, WORKS.
Home First
Home First is a unique program serving the greater Los Angeles area through the work of the Mobile Integrated Service Team (MIST). Since 2007, Home First has provided outreach and engagement of chronically homeless, mentally ill persons, assisting them with obtaining housing and assisting individuals and families who struggle with mental illness in housing retention/eviction prevention. The program is based on a well documented, successful housing first approach using harm reduction strategies – “whatever it takes for as long as it takes!”

Under the seasoned and unparalleled leadership of Mollie Lowery (Home First Program Director and previously Founder and Director of LAMP Community), we have modeled a program to assist this population obtaining and sustaining housing.
